A quick guide to how ralf turns your photo into a cartoon: character, script, frames, animation, voice-over, payment and refunds.
What is ralf?
ralf is a service that draws a cartoon character from your photo and builds a video around it: script, frames, animation, voice-over and music. People use it to make a video greeting, a holiday gift or a family story told as a cartoon.
How do I get started?
Choose a language, upload a photo and pick a cartoon style. In a few minutes you will see your character in two versions and choose the one you like best. Then you tell your story, and the service writes a script based on it.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. When you sign up, welcome tokens are added to your balance — enough to draw your first character and get a script. Everything after that — frames, animation, voice-over — is paid for with tokens.
How much does a cartoon cost?
You pay per operation: an image (a character or a frame) is 10 tokens, a clip is 20, a script is 50 for every 20 frames, voice-over is 30, music is 20. One token equals one hryvnia (UAH). For example, a video of 20 frames comes to about 700 tokens. Before each stage the workspace shows you an estimate, and you are charged only for what has actually been made. Redrawing images and reshooting clips are paid; script edits are free.
How do I top up my balance?
Use the “Top up” button in your workspace: 300, 600, 1000 hryvnias (UAH) or an amount of your choice. You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay through the WayForPay payment system. The service does not receive or store your card details. Tokens appear on your balance within a minute, and the receipt is sent to your email.
What kind of photo works best?
A portrait in good light: the face is large in the frame, looking at the camera, sharp, with no dark glasses. We need the original file, not a screenshot or a picture of a printed photo. One good photo per character is enough.
Can I upload my own reference: a mascot, a brand product, branded clothing?
You can add a pet in your account as a separate photo labelled with who it is, and it will be drawn from that photo in the cartoon style. Exact reproduction of brand products, lettering and logos, as well as a mascot from a character sheet with several angles, is not supported yet; it is planned. You can describe the hero's clothing in words for the whole video or for a single scene: colour, cut, details. For branded series, write to support and we will discuss a separate format.
What styles are available?
There are nine styles — from full 3D animation and classic hand-drawn cartoon to watercolour and caricature. Examples of each style are shown at the selection step. Every character is drawn in two versions, and the choice is yours.
The character doesn’t look like me. What should I do?
Choose the second version or ask for a new drawing. If there is still no likeness after a retry, the cause is usually the photo: upload another one where the face is larger and evenly lit. You can describe the change in words, and the face will be preserved.
How do I make a second episode with the same characters?
Open a finished order and press Series, or in the new order form choose Series: take characters from a previous order. Tick the characters you want to keep. Their references are carried over without redrawing and for free, so the faces stay the same as in the first episode. Add new characters with your own photos, then press Start and tell the new story. If you ask to redraw a character, it will no longer match the previous episode, and the redrawing is paid.
How long does it take?
A character is drawn in a few minutes. The full cartoon takes longer: script, frames, animation and editing go stage by stage, and you see each stage in your workspace and approve it yourself.
What format will the video be in?
Vertical 9:16 for phones and social media, horizontal 16:9 or square 1:1. You choose the format in your order.
What languages does the service support?
The workspace is available in Ukrainian, English, Russian, Kazakh, Polish, German, Spanish and Chinese. You choose the language at the start and can change it at any time with the button at the top.
What happens to my photos?
Your photos are used only for your order. The service does not use them for advertising, model training or recognising people. At your request, the order and the photos are deleted within 30 days.
Who owns the finished cartoon?
You do. From the moment of payment you can use the result for personal and commercial purposes. You are responsible for having the right to use the photos you upload and for publishing the result.
Can I get my money back?
Tokens that have been paid for and not spent are refunded on request sent to the support email within 14 days of the payment date, to the same card. Tokens spent on completed operations are not refunded. If a result was not created through the fault of the service, no tokens are charged for it.
I can’t sign in. What should I do?
You can sign in with a code from an email or with Google. First tick the consent box at the top of the sign-in screen. If the email with the code has not arrived, check your “Spam” folder. If the site is open inside a social media app, open it in Safari or Chrome.
How do I contact support?
Open the support chat in your workspace — the “Support” button. If your question needs checking in your workspace, it goes to the team automatically and the answer comes here, in the chat. You can also write to the support email.
